“The last month has been busy for the Vultures. With having a Bunning’s fundraiser BBQ (thank you to those who came down and supported us), to having our sign on day and starting our preseason training. The last 3 weeks have seen quite a few new faces welcomed into the club. They have shown they have some skills they have learnt in other sports that can make the transition over to gridiron a bit easier, but also realised the stark reality of how in depth the game really is. This season has also seen the increase in participation from our Youth Football Team (10yrs-13yrs). This will prove to be a great foundation for the club for the coming years as they progress through the ranks and work their way into the Men’s and Women’s Senior teams. The Juniors team is looking to make a comeback this season after missing the last few years. With the addition of a few new faces at training, we are confident that we can return to the playoffs like we have done in the past. The Men’s team is still looking to grow from our previous years. 2020 was a disappointing year for the club with Covid striking a blow and not allowing us to field a team. But we are looking to bounce back stronger this year and improve on our 6th place finish in the 2019 season. I am confident we will have the talent this season to really trouble the top teams. A few of the new guys shown up to the start of training this year have really impressed me with their speed and acceleration. They will trouble some teams for sure. I’m also looking forward to seeing what some of the big men up front can do. They have the potential to be a real dominant force in this league and we will certainly looking to lean on them when need some yards. They’re the bulldozers that clear a path for our running backs to look good. They’re the most important part of our team. But we don’t want to get ahead of ourselves too much just yet. All positions are still up for grabs. The boys just have to show me what they can do at training and improve from week to week to ensure they get a starting spot. With the regular season not kicking off until mid August, the club is still on the hunt for more recruits. Being a Sport that has 3 teams within the one squad (Offence, Defence and Special Teams), a large team is paramount to success. Having 40 players on a team means everyone still gets a run”.
We are Recruiting boys, girls, men and women. Youth Football(10-13), Juniors(14-17), Senior Men’s and Women’s(18+). We are also still looking for anyone who would be happy to help volunteer or even join the coaching ranks. With 7 different positional groups within each team, and every position being vastly different to each other in the ways of skills and needs, you will find it challenging and rewarding watching the growth of the playing group. – Toowoomba Valleys Vultures. Training Nights Mon & Wed 6.30pm at Pillar Street grounds.
