Under 18 grade vs Dalby match report 17.05.14

On Saturday night we travelled to Dalby to take on the Diehards. It was a tough first half with the boys doing a lot of defence. There was plenty of good signs heading into halftime break with the score at 6 all. Unfortunately, an elbow injury to Cameron Matheson and a head collision to Jeff Buckle made our job harder in the second half. A determined Dalby team came out better than us after half time. They dominated the first 15 min of the half and put themselves up 24-6. When we finally got some ball, our forwards set a good platform. We took the momentum and produced the best footy of the match. We came home very strong and put on 3 good tries but missed a conversion from the sideline and the score was 24-22 with 2 mins remaining. From the kick off we went nearly the length of the field in 3 plays only to be called back for a forward pass. The boys were gutted, but it was a great game of footy. Our new recruits were great for our team. Trazan Rihia was fantastic in the middle and Marouna Benioni was exciting in the halves. Dylan Haajiar was good at times and Nathan Bowering was strong on his first game back from a serious injury. We have a lot of work to do at training this week and blokes are now playing for there position each week.
