Clive Berghofer Land Sales, Fabtech Liners & Covers and Federal Hotel Valleys A-Grade v Brothers at Glenholme Park, 17th March, 2013

Well, our Clive Berghofer Land Sales, Fabtech Liners & Covers and Federal Hotel Valleys A-Grade side has experienced the highs and lows of footy in the first two weeks of the season. Following a solid and encouraging display against Dalby in rd 1 we showed against Brothers that unless we are prepared and switched on 100% we are going to be our own worst enemies. In a flat and quite frankly unacceptable performance, we ended up deservedly being on the end of a touch up. An error rate which which saw a final completion rate of 38% summed it all up if the 3 length of the field intercept tries weren’t enough already. Positives were tough to dig up on the day, with Simon Mapapalangi’s 2 tries showing he will be a plus for us probably the only one, but other than that we have a tough week in front of us where everyone needs to take a step back and really re-evaluate themselves. Just as we have proved however, a week is an eternity in football and let’s hope this performance was an off day and the blow we needed to ensure we meet our standards from now on each and every week.

City Mechanical & Auto Electrical, Saxon Energy Services and Kev’s Welding Works Valleys Reserve Grade v Brothers at Glenholme Park, 17th March, 2013

The City Mechanical & Auto Electrical, Saxon Energy Services and Kev’s Welding Works Valleys Reserve Gradeboys had a great victory this week winning 38 – 18 against a Brothers side who were worthy opponents for us. In conditions that resembled the middle of Summer our boys really hung in there to finish with a wet sale after leading 12 – 10 at half time. After last week’s loss, the boys really rallied and played the way we all know they can producing quallity football. New comers Chris Ava and Michael (the PNG sensation) Kundi had great 1st up games and played the house down with Chris scoring a double and Michael “the  human battering ram” killing them up the middle. Again a special mention also has to go out to the under 18’s guys who played up for me, the more they play the better they get stepping up playing against men and and don’t seem out of place at all,so thanks again boys. My man of the match went to another new comer Aaron Blades who covered a number of positions and did so with class as you would expect from a seasoned 1st grader, scoring a try himself and kicking a few goals. All in all, it was a great team effort and the boys are starting to come together well as a side. Bring on Warwick this week. Cheers Fordy

Steggles Chickens, Construction Siteworks and Thiess Construction Valleys U-18’s v Brothers at Glenholme Park, 17th March, 2013

The Steggles Chickens, Construction Siteworks and Thiess Construction Valleys U-18’s went to Brothers on Sunday in a hot game of footy. Another scrappy affair had us get over the line 42-26 against a depleted brothers outfit. For us though it is more about our attitude and enthusiasm rather than the game itself. We need to improve across the park in all areas but most of all the attitude.. The senior group of Josh Hancock, James Dempsey, Nathan Martin and Josh Glass were the stand outs for us,  and the younger guys need to raise to their  level as the year goes on to insure a good fun year for us.
