VALLEYS A GRADE – Playing the reigning premiers is a massive challenge and it’s a game all teams look forward to testing themselves against. Also with a few ex Valley’s players in the Wattles line up it was sure to be an exciting game. We turned up with the right attitude but things were made harder for the players’ with a player from each side given an early march. Unfortunately for us it was a key position and we had to shuffle players’ around. Our effort was there and we gave ourselves a good chance of winning the game but against quality opposition you have to play for 80min not in periods. Chris Richardson was outstanding with 2 tries and 2 try assists and a threat all night. The last couple of weeks we have learnt some valuable lessons and it doesn’t get any easier with Gatton next up who have been one of the pacesetters the last few seasons. For the club it was great to see some old faces back on the fields in all 4 grades over the weekend, Our club spirit is well and truly alive.
Justin.
VALLEYS RESERVE GRADE – Last Saturday the boys turned up for the Wattles game with the right attitude and we were ready to play in what was a fairly physical battle. I thought our forwards stood up in both attack and defense. Our attack is slowly coming together and we had good shape at times and our fifth tackle options were a lot better tonight than last week. Defense was a big positive with the boys turning up for each other the entire night keeping Wattles to just 4 points. It was a good team effort tonight boys with best on ground Josh Birch leading the way who had good support from Willie Preston and Ben Atkins once again. Ben Sutton kept turning up for us in attack also. A good job boys and a good win. 22-4 the final score. Lets turn up again this weekend against last years premier’s Gatton and get stuck in.

VALLEYS UNDER 18 GRADE – The Valleys Roosters under 18 side got a much needed 46-4 win over the Wattles Warriors. Again we started slow and a lot of dropped ball saw us defend our line for numerous sets. A length of the field try to Nick Ryals got us on the front foot and the team didn’t look back. Ball control continued to be an issue for the entire game but we managed to put together some very good team tries. Again it was hard to single out any players but forwards Nick, Junior, Jessie, Bulla, Bryce and Blake provided us with some good go forward. Outside backs Shannon and Declan also had strong performances. Blake Baird had his best game of the year and rightly received player’s player and man of the match. This week we make the trip down the range to take on the Gatton Hawks in what is sure to be a tough encounter.
Matt.
VALLEYS C GRADE – Milmerrin was our toughest opponent to date this season and we were just beaten 26-20. Again we played well at times and scored some good tries but we let ourselves down too often with poor handling and some very lazy defense. Despite missing our opportunities we were still in it right to the end. Front rower Josh Mason was unfortunately held up over the line with 2 minutes remaining which could have tied the match. Man of the match was first time Valleys player Phil Ruge closely followed by Justin Milo and Jake Ryals. A special mention to those players who missed the chance of playing.
Gaz.
