VALLEYS A GRADE – It’s always great to play up at Clive Burghofer Stadium and against cross town rivals Souths. Although the field wasn’t in the best condition to play attacking football we were focused on areas in our game we needed to improve on and to keep Souths to just 10 points after a length of the field intercept try against us in the first minute and see the individual efforts of players doing what it takes to win was very pleasing. Josh Duncan, Nathan Simpson and Jake Ryles always looked dangerous. Ryan Stevens and Ben Cook are starting to find their combinations and Jock Waters is getting better and better while Tyrone Jowett and James Crombie led well from the front. Missing a few key players it was also good to see our depth with guys fitting straight in and contributing to get the win. It was also great to see a few past club legends out having fun and enjoying a run in the old boys game. A few recent players Eugene Seddon, Ned Murphy and Jake Cooley look in pretty good knick and could easily be out there competing with the best still. This game is getting bigger and bigger each year and we can’t wait to hold it at Valley’s next season. This week we will be studying the form guide for the Valley’s race day and enjoying the week off after a few tough sessions.
Justin.

VALLEYS RESERVE GRADE – It was pleasing to see a much better attitude within the playing group today. After a slow start in attack our defence once again kept us in the game in the first half. Our attack kicked into gear in the second half and we started to play a bit of free flowing footy putting on 38 points against Souths. Although it was a good win we still have a lot of improvement in us. Everyone had an impact on the match but our best was Josh Hancock bagging a hat trick of try’s. Our back three in silly, trotty and Zac all had good solid games and gus had another powerful running game making a lot of metres for us. Ben Jarvis made a solid return for the Roosters in both attack and defence. well done boys lets all get to training and keep improving.
JB.

VALLEYS UNDER 18 GRADE – The Valleys Roosters Under 18 side made it 4 wins in a row as they had a comfortable 60-16 win over Souths. The team got off to a good start and posted 5 first half tries. Unfortunately we also allowed Souths to score some soft tries against us. Once again our second half was strong and the team improved their defence and attack. Player’s player went to Lachlan Stephson who played a strong game in his return from injury. In the forwards Jordan Collinson and Ryan Horton had great games and both players where announced joint winners of man of the match. In the backs Wally and Declan had strong games and the final 20 minutes saw Mitch Cook come alive at hooker. With the bye next week, we then face who I believe to be the competition favourites in the Dalby Diehards. This will be a big test for our young team as we look to cement our spot in the top 3.
Matt.

VALLEYS C GRADE – No Game.
