VALLEYS A GRADE – On the training field this week we have focused on things that we can control and putting our energy into that as well as playing for the team not the individual. Against Oakey from the first set of defense it was evident that our group had turned up to play. Back rowers Josh Birch and Ben Jarvis were outstanding while our core of Chris Richardson, Josh Duncan, Ryan Stevens and Ben Cook gelled superbly and gave us a lot of creativity in attack with their decision making. While we did again clock off in stages our defense was a vast improvement and for the last 10min all our bench were injured and a few players had to tough it out on the field and push that bit extra for the team. The final score 50-8 to us. Thank you to Oakey for hosting a great day with the charities and inviting us to be a part of their big day. Best wishes to all teams competing in the President’s Cup especially our C grade team who give everyone a reason to get to the footy early.
Justin.
VALLEYS RESERVE GRADE – Last Sunday afternoon we took on Oakey out at Oakey. We started the first half dominating possession but a crucial error just before half time gave Oakey a try and momentum leading into the second half. Once again our second half start was poor and we were playing catch up footy for the remainder of the game. We need to start playing for a full 70 minutes and not in 15 minute patches! Our overall performance was very disappointing and we need to be better if we want to be playing finals football this year! The final score 28-20 to Oakey.

VALLEYS UNDER 18 GRADE – The junior Roosters made a positive start against the Oakey Bears last Sunday with Blake Baird scoring his first try of the year within the first two minutes. A serious injury to an Oakey player resulted in only 7 minutes of the first half being played. We wish this young man a speedy recovery. The boys found it hard to get going again in the second half with the big break in play. In saying that we did enough to win. Wally Peglar had his best game of the year and Trent Nicholls made his return after an injury lay off. Ryan Horton and Jordan Collinson proved handfuls for the Oakey side all day in a strong display by both players. At the end of the first round we are sitting in a good spot but have a very tough start to round 2. It starts with a road trip to Gundy to take on a Boar’s side that accounted for us in round 1. The final score 32-16 to us. Good luck to our C grade boys in the President’s Cup this week against the undefeated Milmerrin side.
Matt.
VALLEYS C GRADE – The Roosters C graders again put on a good show with our big men Josh and Aran in particular leading from the front. Our structure remains very good and we continue to score very good tries. Our season is at an important stage and if we want to contend for the title we must still improve. The 36-10 winning scoreline again was credit to the guys who are performing week after week. Our best was Lachlan Markham, with excellent support from big Aran, Nick and Josh. Good luck in this week’s President’s Cup match boys.
Gaz.
