Justin.VALLEYS A GRADE – After playing last year’s premiers last week Wattles and putting in a good performance, this week we were up against last year’s runners up Gatton and we knew we needed to be on our game. Three late withdrawals wasn’t ideal but it gave us an opportunity to blood some more of our Under 18’s with Ryan Horton and Mitch Cook making their debuts and Trent Nicholls playing his 2nd game. We lost fullback Josh Waters very early in the game and were a different side than last week. Gatton made us pay with our defense which was nearly non-existent and our ball control was just as bad. The conditions in the mud were difficult and our effort was definitely there, we just lacked the energy and enthusiasm and started playing as individuals rather than as a team and lost our structure and composure. In Rugby League you need to get up every weekend. We are continually learning from each game and Gatton taught us the hard way who will once again be hard to beat this year. We are a very resilient and tight group at Valley’s and our hunger for improvement will only grow stronger.

VALLEYS RESERVE GRADE – Another gutsy effort from our boys last Sunday at home against Gatton, but another game that got away from us when the result could of again gone our way. The 18-6 scoreline didn’t really reflect the closeness of the match throughout as we were dominant for much of the match and had the greater share of the total possession. We want to play finals footy this year and as a side I think we could go all the way, but we must be consistent and place a greater emphasis on effort and playing together as a team. Our focus now is on Warwick at warwick which will be a must win clash for us. Another good effort boys but we need to be better again this week against the Cowboys. Thanks again to the Under 18 players who are a big part of our side as well as the C grade boys. Best on ground this week was Nathan Bowering who is continuing to develop into a class player.

VALLEYS UNDER 18 GRADE – The Junior Roosters won against Gatton on forfeit.

VALLEYS C GRADE – A good bounce back into the winner’s circle for us with a comfortable 29-10 victory over Gatton. The previous game our boys were comprehensively beaten by a very good Millmerrin side so the effort to reverse that result was very evident. The lads put in at every stage of the game and the result was credit for their hard work. The result was somewhat soured with the loss of Josh Mason for the season. Maso has been exceptional for the club this year and his efforts on the field have not been bettered by anyone in any grade, a big loss for us but one that we will have to try and cover. Matt Schulze and Jake Crocker were our best this week with big efforts from Danyon Pidgeon and Chris Silitoe. Next game is against Warwick Saturday afternoon at Warwick. Keep up the effort boys.
