VALLEYS A GRADE – After the frustration of last weekend we were eager to get back on the field against an old adversary in Brothers. At Valleys our history will never be forgotten and it was a pleasure to have life member Max Higgins hand out the 1st grade jumpers and talk to the players about the past history of their club. As a group we have solely focused on what our roles are week in week out and to see the guys maintain focus when the opposition try and put you off with questionable tactics is a credit to the group we have. It was great that again under pressure we stayed composed and played for the whole 80mins with everyone doing their role. It is hard to single players out but Tyrone Jowett, Josh Duncan, Wayne Barnett and James Crombie in his debut for the club led the way from the front. We have a long tough road ahead with a tough away trip to Pittsworth our next challenge. After each game our sportsmanship and respect will kick in and we will always join the opposition for a drink and pay the respects needed as we are all involved in the same cause, that is making sure Rugby League remains the greatest game of all. Well done boys.
Justin.

VALLEYS RESERVE GRADE – Last weekend we took on Brothers on a hot afternoon at home.in what was an important game for us after last weeks draw. The boys turned up ready to play getting out to an early lead.when we held the ball and completed our sets out of our own end and we looked good. A few mistakes crept into our game once under fatigue but all in all it was a good defensive effort to keep Brothers to just 8 points. Brother however kept asking questions of our goal line defense, but we stayed strong. Best on ground this week were Dan Ford and big Reggie Munn up front and the returning Phantom Nathan Walker who was also impressive in his comeback match! Next game is Pittsworth after Easter and they always come at us hard.

VALLEYS UNDER 18 GRADE – The Valley’s Under 18’s notched up their first win of the year with a hard fought 28-22 grind over Brothers. In a tit for tat first half, barn storming lock Malik Brown crashed over for a double. The second half saw Brothers skip away to a ten point lead before captain Bula Ashby barged his way over for a double also. With the game locked at 22 all co-captain Nick Ryals crashed over near the post to put us in front. It was good to get a win but we still have a long way to go. Bula Ashby was judged man of the match for a whole hearted 70 minute effort. After the Easter break we make the tough trek out to Pittsworth to take on the undefeated Danes.
Matt.

VALLEYS C GRADE – A big Rooster effort from our C grade boys today at Oakey. These guys are a credit to what we are about as a club. After having our Sunday game against Brothers cancelled we strung together a side last minute to travel to Oakey this afternoon and play a side a lot bigger than us and with a lot more players also. We played extremely well and came up with a well deserved victory, winning 28 – 10. The boys will be moving a bit slower Sunday morning as everyone played some big minutes in extraordinary heat with only one on the bench. Everyone deserves a mention for their efforts today but if I had to single out a few it would be like this…Josh Mason for doing two hit ups in the same set and playing big minutes, Craig Mitchell with his direction and steady influence, Wade Nelson scoring two tries, Aran Simm for playing big minutes and putting on some great hits, Daniel Bain and speedy winger Nick almost pulling off the try of the season for any grade, Sam Landrigan, Anthony Watts for tireless defense, the big efforts of Nathan Allan and Dylan Haaijer, strong first games back for Jordan de Joux and Brok Whale, the workrate of Lachlan Markham and the enthusiasm of gameday captain Jahred Amps. Well done boys. Special thanks to A graders’ Oliver Scott and Blake Edwards for running water and their guiding influence. Very proud of effort by all.
Gaz.
