VALLEYS A GRADE – With our season on the line we were on the road to Warwick and eager to get out and make amends for last week’s disappointing performance. The injury curse hasn’t been good to us this season and we again lost 2 players before kick off, but it gave us an opportunity to give another Valley’s junior Bryce Whale his 1st start in A Grade which was very pleasing. Bryce played in 3 games on Saturday and didn’t look out of place scoring a crucial try and is the 5th Under18’s player to debut this season. I was very proud of the efforts of our guys and it was a very good game by both teams which should’ve been the focus for discussion after the game. We turned up to play and a few decisions beyond our control really cost us dearly. Our playing group stayed focused despite this and never complained and tried to take decisions out of the equation but fell just short with Warwick getting the points right on full time to get the win. The final score 22-26. It was heart breaking but we walked off the field with our heads held high. James Crombie and Aaron Sillitoe both had strong games. Unfortunately this season we have been unable to put out our best side on the paddock once, but that’s footy and we will grow stronger and look for the positives and continued improvement. Off the field we are in a good place at Valley’s and look to finish the season strong.

VALLEYS RESERVE GRADE – Another disappointing loss for our guys. The 44-22 scoreline was reflective of how we prepared and played the game. Again it was the few who have been contributing 100% that put in a great effort on the field. There were of course a few others that let them down. Consistency and commitment have not been good enough this year to play finals footy and we are hurting at not being a part of September footy which we always strive for and expect to be a part of. Thanks again to the Under 18 players who are a big part of our side as well as the C grade boys. Best on ground this week was Robert Trott who is consistently putting in 100%.

VALLEYS UNDER 18 GRADE – The Junior Roosters needed to come from behind twice to beat a determined Cowboys side. After a disrupted warm up (mainly due to a cycling race between Toowoomba and Warwick) we struggled in the early stages of the game. Some poor discipline and defence really cost us in the first half. A very improved second half saw the boys keep Warwick scoreless and run in four tries. Ryan Horton really rolled his sleeves up and got through some work with Jordan and Malik. While Wally, Trent and Nick played well out wide. An early injury to Gerome saw Hayden slip into the halves and he handled it with ease and combined well with Harry. Our final winning score 36-24. Bryce and Jordan shared man of the match award’s and Bryce was named player’s player. Bryce capped of a big day by making his A Grade debut, he handled the step up well and will play plenty more senior footy in the future. I also thank all the players that backed up, many players played two and some three games. This week we are home to South’s before we have a well-earned bye.

VALLEYS C GRADE – After a good bounce back the previous week we let ourselves slip back a notch or two again. We performed well below our best and suffered a 36-14 loss over a more determined Warwick side. We were of course missing a few regular players again which is becoming all too familiar and if we want to be competitive in the finals we will all need to put in the work not only during the games but at training also. Best on ground was Daniel Bain and Blake Baird. Next game is against Dalby at Dalby Sunday week. Keep up the effort boys.
