VALLEYS A GRADE – Playing Competition pacesetters Gatton in Gatton is always tough. They have been in the last 2 Grand Finals and are undefeated this season. The last few weeks we have learnt alot about our character and know where we have to improve. The day started well with victories in the earlier 3 games then 1st grade came out of the blocks with 2 early tries to lead 12-0 but again fatigue and errors crept in which you can’t afford against quality opposition and Gatton skipped away to lead at halftime. To the credit of our guys we came back at them and were in with a chance of still winning but Gatton showed why they are leading the comp and put an end to our resergence. The final score 44-28 to Gatton. We have a few areas we need work on but we are definitely up for the challenge. Players that impressed were Jock Waters, Tyrone Jowett and it was great to see Joshua Robinson back in the team with some quality touches. Congratulations to Luke Smith, Tyrone Jowett, James Crombie, Chris Richardson & Jock Waters who represent our club for the Clydesdales in Roma.
Justin.
VALLEYS RESERVE GRADE – Last Sunday the boys turned up for the Gatton game confident that we could knock off the reigning premiers and the team that beat us in last year’s grand final. We were solid all day in defense and showed excellent structure on attack, the only thing letting us down was our own mistakes. To hold the reigning premiers to just 10 points was a huge positive with the boys turning up for each other all day. It was a good team effort but the best on ground Josh Hancock, Matt Kelly, Ben Atkins and Ben Sutton. A good job again boys and a good win. 20-10 the final score. Let’s turn up again next weekend against Warwick.

VALLEYS UNDER 18 GRADE – The Valleys Roosters under 18 made it back to back wins with a 58-4 victory over the Gatton Hawks. Poor ball control and at times ill-discipline cost us as we still continue to be our own worst enemies. In saying that the boys put together some good set plays and defended with aggression. Junior led the forward pack well and Ryan “the pigeon” Horton made an impressive return from injury and played good minutes in the second row. Gerome Burns made his return to the Roosters and he and Harry Murphy look like a formidable halves pairing. Gerome collected our player’s player and man of the match award. Next weekend we host the Warwick Cowboys in what again will be a tough test for our side.
Matt.
VALLEYS C GRADE – Gatton were very worthy opponents and put us to the test. We were well down on player numbers this week compared to last week, particularly with almost all of our big men away, but we played some good structured footy and came away with a very good 20-12 victory. Our best on ground were Jake Ryals and Danyon Pidgeon, but we are all improving week on week and we have some good shape on attack and defense. Another good test against Warwick next weekend awaits.
Gaz.
