VALLEYS A GRADE – Wattles have been the benchmark for the past few seasons and having a few ex Valley’s players in their side was sure to make for an exciting encounter. Again we had key players missing but we were confident we could do the job. As a coach and for the club it was very exciting and an occasion we have been waiting for to see Valleys junior Gerome Burns’ first game in 1st grade and he handled it with class that indicates his potential with some nice touches setting up a try and scoring one himself to give us a chance of winning the game and earning himself the man of the match. I was happy with the effort of our players, we turned up to play and concentrated on things we could control. Jock Waters and Jake Ryals were outstanding for 80min. While we pushed top side Wattles we weren’t good enough to maintain pressure for 80min and our exaction could have seen more points for us. The final score being 36-30 to Wattles. Our defense still has a lot to improve on and our 1 on 1 effort’s need more work. This area is where games are won. We have a massive challenge ahead of us now but with the hard work continuing at training we will give it our best.
Justin.
VALLEYS RESERVE GRADE – Another gutsy effort from our boys last Sunday at Clifton. In a fast paced game against the 3rd placed Wattles side we were pipped at the post and went down 28-22. The match was neck and neck right up until the final whistle. This game was a good indication of where we need to be if we want to play finals footy this year. As a side I think we are getting better each week and I have no doubt we can mix it with all the top 5 sides. We probably just lost our way a bit in attack in the second half and got out enthused by our opponents. Our focus now is on Gatton at home which will be a must win clash for us. Another good effort boys but we need to be better again this week against the Hawks. Thanks again to the Under 18 players who are a big part of our side as well as the C grade boys. Best on ground this week was our skipper Mitch (wheels) Durnan.

VALLEYS UNDER 18 GRADE – The Junior Roosters backed up a good performance last week with a dominant win over Wattles. With a few players missing everyone else stepped up and put in strong performances. Trent, Pat and Bula set the platform for Bryce and Gerome to wreck havoc out wide. Under 16 player Denzel Burns received player’s player after scoring two length of the field tries. Man of the Match went to Malik Brown on the back of another strong performance in the front row. The final score 82-10 to us. Special mention to Gerome Burns who made his A grade debut. Gerome is the second under 18 player to make his mark in the top grade and won’t be the last. This week we are back at home to face the Gatton Hawks in another must win game.
Matt.
VALLEYS C GRADE – Last Sunday our boys were taught a lesson in commitment and team spirit. In what was just our second loss of the season it was disappointing to not have the commitment from everyone in our team. To the lads who consistently front up and give 100% every week, well done and keep up the mighty effort. To the rest of the team who let you down, make up for it. If we want to be a force come finals time then we must all give our best. Nathan Allen and Daniel Bain were our best this week with big efforts from Josh Mason, Matt Schulze and Jake Crocker. Next game is against Gatton Sunday afternoon at home. Let’s see if we can get our full squad on the park and put up a strong show.
Gaz.
