Steggles Chickens, Construction Siteworks and Thiess Construction Valleys U-18’s v Gatton at Herb Steinohrt Oval, 4th May, 2013

Gatton made the trip to play our Valleys Steggles Chickens, Construction Siteworks and Thiess Construction Valleys U-18’s on the weekend and as we thought they were tough right from the start. The hawks defence held us at bay time and time again over the first 10 min.  Some poor decision making from us and a little poor organization didn’t help our cause. After Daniel Bain stepped his way over for the first of his 2 tries, we started to find a rhythm and went to the break at 16 – 0. We had spoken on the importance of our defence all week and pushed hard to keep them scoreless. We started well in the second half and went on with the job after that. We won 46 – 4 . It was annoying to see the boys have a lapse in concentration down the blind side which lead to their try but from where we started with this group at the start of the year, they really are improving week by week and have already come so far. We have set goals that we want to achieve in the next few weeks and are continuing to work hard at training to make us a better unit. Our next game is Highfields and we will need to be prepared if we are going to be any chance.
