The Steggles Chickens, Construction Siteworks
and Thiess Construction Valleys U-18’s took on Souths on Sunday. It was played in very wet and slippery
conditions causing trouble for us straight away. We were unable to construct a
set without errors and we were unable to adapt to the wet conditions. We
defended well though continuing to turn up for each other time and time again.
The 2nd half was a different story. Our big name boys stood up and took
control. David Murphy lead from the front, with Jason Sharpe and Richard Ryan
playing well, but it was the professionalism of Mitch and Nick Sargent that got
us playing as a team. We put on some good footy, played to the conditions,
played the game plan and played with enthusiasm. We bombed a few tries late in
the game being a bit over confident, but we got the job done winning 36-16.
This week is a big test to see if we can keep up our standards
