City Mechanical & Auto Electrical, Saxon Energy Services and Kev’s Welding Works Valleys Reserve Grade v Oakey at Oakey, 14th April, 2013
Round 5 saw the City Mechanical & Auto Electrical, Saxon Energy Services and Kev’s Welding Works Valleys Reserve Grade blokes travel out to Oakey and take on a Bears side who were yet to chalk up a win. From the opening whistle our blokes were under the pump with back to back penalties which led to a try.The Bears came to play and adapted to the conditions better. It was hot and humid and the boys struggled a bit due to having to do to much defence and the score bored reflected that at half time. In the second half we came out firing and looked like a different team but the loss of Chall was a big one and struggled with his loss letting in some soft tries. In the end it came down to the final play with Chris Ava breaking the line but unfortunately the pass went to ground after he suffered an injury… Strong games were had by our ever reliable skipper Capie and props big Mick Kundi and Rihari. Special mention must go to big Lawrence from the 18’s who is playing some good footy by treating defenders like ten pins, keep it up big fella. I look forward to seeing us improve every week we just need more game time together, but signs are good. Bring on Souths this week… Cheers Fordy
