Rnd 3 Write up for all 3 Teams V Warwick 24/3/2013

Clive Berghofer Land Sales, Fabtech Liners & Covers and Federal Hotel Valleys A-Grade v Warwick at Valleys 24th March 2013

The Clive Berghofer Land Sales, Fabtech Liners & Covers and Federal Hotel Valleys A-Grade put in a solid effort to win the game by 34 – 6 but our execution let us down on a hot afternoon at home against Warwick. The boys need to be credited for a great defensive effort, especially in the first half where we held out numerous back to back sets in the humid conditions. Going into half time with the opposition on 0 is always a confidence builder but we will be looking now in the weeks to come to put together a match where our defence and attack are up to standard on the same day. Once again our ball control let us down and our final pass execution saw us blow a lot of opportunities but this was coupled with plenty of great football as well which led to a fair bit of frustration. Getting consistency in our attack and defence is the real goal from now on. There were 2 debutants on the day in Dave Murphy and Karaha Waaka (K.T.) which was great to see. Along with Jason Sharpe who played his 2nd A-Grade match and a great performance from Huey Sedger, our 4 x 17 year olds really made a difference and caused Warwick problems. There is no doubt this group will push for A-Grade constantly when their Clydesdales commitments are finished. Luke Smith and Andrew Farrell were fantastic for us in the middle and are forming a great combo and other seasoned players like Blake Edwards and Hayden McNichol really stepped up which was important considering the absence of a couple of regular A-Graders. In all, we go into the weekend off at 2 out of 3 which we all believe should have been better, but we have plenty of work in front of us and improvement to make to reach the standards we’re looking for.

City Mechanical & Auto Electrical, Saxon Energy Services and Kev’s Welding Works Valleys Reserve Grade v Warwick at Valleys 24thMarch, 2013

The City Mechanical & Auto Electrical, Saxon Energy Services and Kev’s Welding Works Valleys Reserve Grade boys chalked up two wins on the trot with a 34 – 28 win over a Cowboys side who came to play. After being down 16 – 6 at half time the boys dug deep in hot and humid conditions to score a length of the field try in the final minutes of play to seal the win. I was proud of the way the boys just didn’t want to quit and work hard for each other to have a good win. New comer Micky (Craig Wing) Coleman impressed at hooker and Lawrence Poe and front row partner Mick Kundi again led from the front with strong games. Man of the match went to the flying Boogsie with his best game of the year to date. Cheers Fordy

Steggles Chickens, Construction Siteworks and Thiess Construction Valleys U-18’s v Warwick at Valleys , 24th March, 2013

Today the Warwick boys travelled up to Valleys and gave the Steggles Chickens, Construction Siteworks and Thiess Construction Valleys U-18’s a well-deserved touch up by 44 to 16. Our attitude was poor in the heat, and our defence was worse. When we completed our sets we looked great but when the errors crept in we dropped our bundle. Josh Hancock, was brilliant in a beaten side and Josh Glass not far behind. It wasn’t just how good they played but the way they presented themselves with a professional attitude and a standard of footy that the rest of the team need to raise to if we want to be a major force in this competition. Warwick were too good for us today and beat us in all departments. When it gets tough, we need to get tougher, at the moment a little bit of immaturity has us dropping our head. We have a lot work to do and hopefully a big couple of weeks at training will get the boys back on track
