Match report under 18’s semi final Vs Highfields 17/08/13

The Steggles Chickens, Construction Siteworks and Thiess Services Valleys U-18’s took on Highfields on Saturday. We found form in our 2nd semi at Clive Berghofer Stadium and played an under strength Highfields outfit that had been hit hard by injuries. We still knew they could be dangerous, so we prepared very well and ticked every box in our performance. By half time we were up 22-4 and by full time 50-10. It was a complete performance where the forwards were great and where the backs equally matched them finishing off sets with points. We were led extremely well by our middle men, Hnaloan Budden, Jason Sharpe and Benny Atkins. They created time and space for Josh Hancock and Josh Robinson and they proved too good. Special mention has to go to Mitch Matheson who’s form has been so good of late, scoring tries and saving tries. His never give up attitude has been such a massive confidence boost for myself and a lot of the team. This Sunday we take on Dalby in a grand final qualifier. From the start of the year we have defiantly exceeded our expectations, the big one is in arms reach. Lets hope we have a good week and get the job done.
