match report a grade semi final Vs Wattles 17/08/13

The Clive Berghofer Land Sales, Fabtech Liners & Covers and Federal Hotel Valleys A Grade put in yet another inspiring effort to defeat Wattles 26-12 in the Major Elimination final and set up a chance at a Grand Final appearance. On a wet night where both teams struggled early to adjust to the slippery conditions our boys put in a smart and tough second 20 minutes to hold a 12-0 lead at half time thanks to solo tries from Luke Smith and Gus Mackellar. A penalty goal early in the second half gave us a 14-0 lead until Wattles started to fight back with a try of their own. An 8 point lead with 30 to go was never going to be enough and with Wattles fighting hard and pressuring our line once again our defence stood up to earn us the victory. A sensational kick return from Jay Melrose put Josh Waters under the posts for a 20-6 lead but again moments later Wattles fought back and closed the gap. It wasnt until Tyrone Jowett showed great determination in chasing a bomb and taking a great catch before offloading beautifully to Huey Sedger for a try in the corner that the match was sown up. Our A Graders and their effort in the past month is a credit to this club and for us to be in the final 3 teams with a shot at a Grand Final has been a great feat. These boys deserve a huge Valleys crowd at the final next weekend and all Valleys supporters should get out and give something back to these guys who are doing the proud history of this club justice week in and week out.
