Clive Berghofer Land Sales, Fabtech Liners & Covers and Federal Hotel Valleys A-Grade v Pittsworth at Herb Steinohrt Oval, 29th June, 2013
The Clive Berghofer Land Sales, Fabtech Liners & Covers and Federal Hotel Valleys Valleys A grade scored a gritty win against Pittsworth on saturday night 24-16 at home which due to other results proved vital to hold onto a top 5 spot. A great and up tempo start saw us get out to a 12 – 0 lead with some great work by our forwards off hooker Andrew Farrell who is in great form at the moment. Due to yet more injuries we had another new halves pairing and Jake Capewell and young Josh Hancock played outstandingly in steering us around the park. Josh Hancock in particular, starting his first game in A-Grade played a match beyond his years in which he showed great patience and an excellent kicking game. His coolness to slot a kick from the sideline which put the match beyond doubt was a huge play. Two other 17 year olds in Dave Murphy and Huey Sedger also had great games and Sam Capewell led the pack in the middle but it was Andrew Farrell’s play out of dummy half which made the difference at the end of the day. It’s great to see Faz in such good form. The win puts our destiny back in our own hands a little bit now and we need to continue with that form if we want to push for a finals spot or a top 3 finish.
